Upcoming Toyota Cars For India: Land Cruiser FJ & New Fortuner

Toyota as a brand in India is known for its reliability. The Innova and the Fortuner became so popular that they have been ruling their respective segments for decades. Like most brands, Toyota is also planning to expand its lineup beyond these two models. Here is a list of 11 Toyota models that are expected to come to India soon.

New-Gen Toyota Fortuner (2026-2027)

The next-generation Fortuner is one of Toyota's most highly anticipated launches. It is expected to debut around the festive season this year or in early 2027. Reports suggest that the Fortuner will use an updated IMV ladder-frame platform.

The SUV is expected to get a sharper front fascia featuring redesigned LED headlamps, a fresh grille, and a revised bumper, while the cabin will receive a more premium layout loaded with additional features. The vehicle will continue to be offered with 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel mild-hybrid engines.

New-Gen Toyota Hilux (Late 2026)

The Hilux has not been in the Indian market for very long. It is a popular choice among off-road enthusiasts across the globe. The next-generation Toyota Hilux lifestyle pickup truck is expected to be launched by late 2026.

It will share the updated IMV platform with the new Fortuner and continue to use the robust 2.8-litre diesel engine. Toyota is also working on an all-electric version, which is expected to come with a 52.9 kWh battery pack, a dual-motor setup generating 196 bhp, and a claimed range of 315 km.

Toyota Hyryder 7-Seater (2026)

Toyota is planning to expand its mid-size SUV presence with a 7-seater version of the Hyryder. The SUV has been spotted testing and is expected to launch in the second half of 2026.

The Hyryder 7-seater will use the same 1.5-litre mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid engines, along with an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option.

Toyota Hyryder Facelift (Festive 2026)

The Hyryder will also receive a mid-life facelift around the 2026 festive season. As part of the update, Toyota is expected to offer features such as a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an Infinity audio system enhanced by Dolby Atmos, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, Level 2 ADAS, and more.

It will continue with the existing mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid powertrains along with AWD availability.

Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift (Late 2026)

The Innova Hycross has been in the market for a while now and is also due for a facelift, which is expected to be launched by late 2026.

The facelift will bring cosmetic updates, a larger touchscreen, a revised digital instrument display, and more. It will retain the existing 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain options.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ (Late 2027 or Early 2028)

The Land Cruiser FJ was unveiled globally recently and is already available in a couple of East Asian markets. The SUV is scheduled to arrive in India by early 2028.

The SUV will utilise the IMV ladder-frame platform and will feature a retro, boxy design complemented by C-shaped LED DRLs and a classic tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

Toyota Taisor Hybrid (2026-2027)

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on a series-hybrid version of the Fronx. Once that model arrives, we expect similar changes to be introduced in the Taisor as well.

Toyota aims to introduce an ultra-efficient series-hybrid version of the Urban Cruiser Taisor between late 2026 and early 2027. It is expected to use a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that functions solely as a generator to charge the battery pack, while the electric motor powers the wheels. This setup is rumoured to deliver an impressive fuel efficiency of up to 35 km/l.

Toyota Electric MPV (Early 2028)

After the eBella, Toyota is expected to launch another EV based on Maruti Suzuki's YMC concept. Toyota's version of the YMC electric MPV is likely to arrive by early 2028. It will be based on the HEARTECT-e architecture, which also underpins the eBella and eVitara. The three-row electric MPV is expected to be offered with 40 kWh and 60 kWh battery pack options.

It will rival models such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV, BYD eMax 7, and Mahindra XEV 9S.

Toyota IMV 0-Based SUV (2028)

Toyota is expected to introduce a brand-new rugged utility SUV based on the IMV 0 modular platform in 2028. The SUV is expected to measure around 4.5 metres in length and could be offered with a 2.4-litre diesel engine alongside a newly developed strong-hybrid powertrain option.

Toyota Corolla Cross (2028–2029)

Toyota has also announced plans to bring the Corolla Cross 7-seater SUV to India by 2028 or 2029. Currently known internally as Project 340D, the premium SUV will be built on the TNGA-C monocoque platform that underpins the Innova Hycross.

The SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre strong-hybrid engine. It will be positioned between the Hyryder and Fortuner and will rival models such as the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO.
