Mahindra has been working on multiple new and interesting models, and one such model is the Vision S concept. The concept was showcased last year, and the almost production-ready version of the Vision S has been spotted testing on multiple occasions. It looks like Mahindra is currently conducting high-altitude testing of the upcoming Vision S SUV. A new set of images has now surfaced online where the upcoming Mahindra SUV is spotted testing in the mountains.

The images have been shared by CarDekho on their website. In these pictures, we see heavily camouflaged versions of the Vision S SUV. It should be noted that Vision S is the name of the concept, and the actual name of the production version of this SUV is going to be different.
In the pictures, we see heavily camouflaged SUVs on mountain roads near Manali. The SUV retains the upright, boxy design that we saw on the concept. In the pictures, we can see two test mules, and they are both probably higher variants. We see a thick front grille with vertical slats and a muscular, rugged-looking bumper at the front.

We can also see projector LED units with LED DRLs in them. The turn indicators are placed on the bumper of the SUV. The headlamps seen here on the test mules are likely temporary testing units, and we expect the production version to come with a more sophisticated design, like the one seen on the concept itself.
On the side profile, we see large windows with thick cladding on the lower part of the doors and also on the squared wheel arches. The SUV also has flush-fitting door handles, and at the rear, we see Defender-like flares on the rear fenders.

The Vision S SUV gets a rectangular rear windshield with a high-mounted stop lamp above it. The spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate, and we also see vertically placed LED tail lamps. The production version of the Vision S is probably not going to look very different from the concept showcased last year.
We do not see the interior of the Vision S in these pictures, but it is expected to get a premium cabin. This is going to be the next phase of Mahindra SUVs, where they will offer premium interiors and features along with space and comfort to compete with rivals. The Vision S concept had a multi-layered dashboard with unique-looking AC vents, a touchscreen infotainment system, seat ventilation, a digital instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, and more.

It will be based on Mahindra’s NU-IQ platform, and the Vision S would be the first SUV to be based on this new modular and flexible architecture. Coming to the engine and transmission, there is no clarity about them at the moment. However, we assume that like most Mahindra models, the Vision S will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.
The SUV is likely to use the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine from the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Both petrol and diesel engines are likely to be offered with manual and automatic transmission options. The official launch of the Vision S is expected to happen in 2027.
