Stellantis is updating its pricing for many of its battery-electric light commercial vehicles in Europe to match their diesel equivalents, according to a March 5 press release.

“With this initiative, Stellantis Pro One aims to actively support the transition to electrification by removing one of the key barriers to adoption: purchase price,” the automaker said in the press release.

Stellantis has been struggling with falling sales in its LCV brands for more than a year. It closed its hydrogen fuel-cell LCV program last July, and this offer can be seen as a way of shifting inventory.

Specifically, the offer applies to models including the Citroën Berlingo and Jumpy, Fiat Professional Doblò and Scudo, Opel Combo and Vivaro, Peugeot Partner and Expert.

Claimed LCV payload capabilities range from 800 kg (1,760 lbs.) to 1.5 metric tons and electric ranges claimed for the models include up to 340 km (211 miles) for compact LCVs and 350 km for midsize vans.

Stellantis isn’t the only automaker to use this approach to boost EV sales. Volvo recently launched its electric EX60 midsize SUV at the same price as its plug-in hybrid sibling, and it has seen a greater than expected demand from consumers in Europe.

Rival Renault has also seen sales plunge as Europe’s economic pressures affect business investment levels — but it doesn’t yet have an EV pricing program to match that of Stellantis.

“With this campaign, Stellantis Pro One is taking a concrete step to support professionals at every stage of their electrification journey,” said Eric Laforge, global senior vice president at Stellantis Pro One.
“By offering battery‑electric commercial vehicles at the same price as diesel, we are making electric mobility a realistic and accessible option for all professional customers.”
