New Mahindra Thar Three-Door Facelift Spotted Testing Again

1 week ago 27

Mahindra Automotive has been working on the development of the Thar three-door facelift, and once again a new test mule of this SUV has been spotted testing. This time around, the test mule was seen parked on the side of the road. It can be noted that the new Thar three-door will boast a similar exterior design as the Thar ROXX, which is a five-door sibling.

The video showing the new Mahindra Thar three-door facelift on the side of the road has been shared on YouTube by Mr Punit Jangid on their channel. In this short clip, we can note that the front fascia of this particular Thar three-door facelift test mule was covered in camouflage. However, we can still note that it will get the same double-rectangle grille as the Thar ROXX.

This grille gets six rectangular slats, which are divided in the middle, making them 12 slats. It also gets Mahindra lettering on top, and it comes finished in the body color in the Thar ROXX. So, most likely, the Thar three-door will also get the same body-colored grille. Apart from it, the new Thar three-door will also get the same circular LED headlights with LED DRLs as the Thar ROXX.

As for the front bumper, we can note that it will also be the same as the Thar ROXX. Moving to the side profile, another element borrowed from the more practical five-door sibling of the Thar is its alloy wheels. The new Thar three-door will get the same five-spoke alloy wheels as the lower variants of the Thar ROXX.

Moving to the rear-end design, it will remain the same as the current model. However, the LED taillights will be replaced with the same ones from the Thar ROXX. Additionally, the rear bumper will also be slightly revised. Apart from these, the overall design looks the same as the current model.

Interior design

Previous test mule sightings of the new Mahindra Thar three-door facelift have revealed that the overall design of the cabin and dashboard of the Thar three-door will remain the same as the current model. It will continue to get the same 10.25-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. It is possible that the new model could get automatic climate control, as in the Thar ROXX.

Additionally, it is also expected to get a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster and a few more creature comfort features as well. Last year, the Thar three-door received updates such as rear AC vents, a sliding armrest, a fuel door release button, a new steering wheel, and many others. All of these updates will be included in the soon-to-be-launched facelifted iteration of the Thar three-door.

Powertrain options

As it will be a facelift and not a complete generation change, Mahindra will retain the same engine options for the Thar three-door facelift as the current model. It will continue to offer the same 2.2-liter mHawk turbo diesel and 2.0-liter mFalcon turbo petrol engines, along with the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine in the entry-level trims. At the moment, Mahindra has not revealed the launch dates of the Thar three-door facelift. However, it will most likely be launched in the coming months. Expect a small bump in the pricing.
